FLAWED PRINCESS, WINDBREAKER, INDIAN DELIGHT AND BORN TO SOAR IN A MOCK RACE OF SIX FURLONGS ON THE TURF.
Flawed Princess jogged in circles beneath me, a definite bounce to her stride. Clearly she knew today was going to be no ordinary workout, even though Born To Soar and Sarah, Windbreaker and Davo, Indian Delight and Vicky had not arrived yet. I steered her straight, glancing up at the stables where Born To Soar and Windbreaker were making their way down to us.
Okay, Amira, they're coming. I told the filly, whose head dropped as she hopped sideways. I rolled my eyes, seizing a tighter hold on the reins when she brought her head back up again. Windbreaker cantered the last few strides to us, and Born To Soar, not wanting to be left out and behind, did the same. Both riders didn't mind much, but promptly put their horses back to trot beside me and Flawed Princess.
Indian Delight and Vicky joined us a few moments later, settling to trot on Born To Soar's outside. So, everyone know the drill today? Sarah asked. Everyone mumbled 'yes' in reply, but she talked over us and told us what to do anyway. Starting from the gates, six furlongs. Windbreaker gate one, Indian Delight gate two, Born To Soar gate three and Flawed Princess gate four. She turned to look directly at me. You and I have the job of pressuring Indie and Windy. Vicky and Dave, you guys have to get into the lead and stay there.
