eight new two year olds
It was GHS's annual new year party, celebrating having brand new racehorses and brand new foals. No one had popped yet for that matter, but all of the mares were very heavily pregnant and could foal at any minute. Everyone was dressed up, with a glass of wine or bottle of beer in hand.
As always, it was hard to believe that two years ago, half of these guys had been newborns and the other half still in their mother's bellies. Sarah, whose eyes were on the handsome Euphorion, was remembering his first shaky steps. The little chestnut had been strong from the beginning, standing up within minutes of his birth. He had of course, fallen right back down again, but the colt kept trying until he got it right not much later. Then, the next morning, just hours after his birth, he and his proud new mum Euphoria had their first gallop together out in the pasture.
Tears sprang to Sarah's eyes. She couldn't wait to race him. He was the first horse of Green Horse Fields with bloodlines of all Hall of Fame inductees. His dam, Euphoria, was Hall of Fame inductee. Euphoria's dam, Bank on Silver, was the very first ever Hall of Fame Inductee. Her sire, True Enough, was the third Hall of Fame inductee ever. And Euphorion's dad, Merry Bay King, who had sired plenty of absolutely amazing racehorses before Euphorion, had been second inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Marissa's eyes switched back and fourth between Silent Fury and Sunset Crusade. Cruze was showing off, galloping around his pasture, nose up and tail flying high in the air. He was the first son of Akuma Battlecry and Dusk Runner, both grade three racehorses. Akuma Battlecry's sire was a Triple Crown Champion, and Cruze so far fancied himself the best colt out.
